Are we human beings truly capable of creating our own future? Can we really manifest our dreams and desires into our life?
I not only believe that every single one of us can manifest our desires, but that we must manifest our desires if we are to have any chance of experiencing true peace and happiness in our life. If you’re not choosing the details of your life, then you are literally settling for life’s leftovers, and that doesn’t sound like much fun to me!
Each and every day has the potential to be an extraordinary one… if you let it. Quite often we approach the new day carrying baggage from the previous day, unaware of how heavy a load it truly is, unaware of how difficult we are making things for ourselves. We awake in the morning still fretting about yesterday’s events. We might have unresolved issues still pressing on our minds, unsolved problems from the past or emotional upsets that are still lingering on; there are promises broken, commitments not kept, expectations not met, and on and on it goes, this churning mass of mixed thoughts and emotions.
And this is all going on in your mind before you even face the new day, before you begin to worry about what is going to go wrong today, before you begin to plan for failure today… because that’s what we all do isn’t it? We worry and worry about our situation. We invent thousands of ways that our plans can go wrong, thousands of ways that life can beat us down.
If you ever need an example of just how creative a human can be just ask yourself why you haven’t accomplished your goals yet, why you aren’t living the life of your dreams yet. Nine times out of ten the answers you give yourself are pure baloney, aren’t they? Many of you have gotten quite good at placing the blame for your troubles where it really doesn’t belong, haven’t you? I thought so.
If you really want to create your day in a way that will allow you to pursue your dreams instead of being pursued by your failures then you have to start at the beginning of your day, the moment you wake up. This is a crucial time for you, for this is when you set the stage for the beginning segment of your day. You and you alone set the tone for your morning.
How do you feel when you first wake up? Are you eager to get out of bed and greet the possibilities of the new day? Or are you resentful at having to get up, afraid of what might be coming today because you know that life is going to continue to throw monkey wrenches into your plans? The decision is yours. You get to decide each morning just how you intend your day to go.
Does that mean that you get to control every little thing that happens throughout your day? No, but it does mean that you get to control how you respond to every little thing that happens throughout your day, beginning with how you wake up in the morning.
When you go to bed at night you should have an affirmation or two that you repeat aloud to yourself. You might want to include something like, “I awaken each morning full of energy and eager to see what experiences and joys the universe will provide me with that day. I approach each day with gratitude and a peaceful knowledge that I am constantly moving toward my desires.”
Notice that you are affirming that you are moving toward your desires, not attracting your desires to you. This is a crucial difference that I’ve discovered can make a huge difference in the success of your manifesting.
I know, I know, people have been calling it the law of attraction for quite some time now, which isn’t wrong, but isn’t quite right in the way that most people understand it. Most people learn of the law of attraction from popular sources which may describe it as similar to considering yourself a magnet that pulls your desires to you.
This is where it gets tough. Many people pretend that they are a magnet, trying to draw things to them, but the truth is that they really aren’t functioning as a magnet at all. What is a magnet anyway? A magnet has a north pole and a south pole and those poles are aligned with each other. Most people are so UNALIGNED that they couldn’t function as a magnet if they tried. They don’t succeed in attracting very much of anything so they quickly give up.
The magnet analogy only works if you are aligned with your inner self to begin with. When you are aligned with the guidance of your inner self it doesn’t matter whether you look at it as if you are moving toward your dreams or as if your dreams are moving toward you, the results are the same. And surprisingly the universe doesn’t care whether or not you understand the process or what you call it.
But, and this is a BIG but, if you are just starting out on this crazy adventure of living the life of your dreams then you might have better initial success if you think of the law of attraction as operating more like this:
Your thoughts are the real magnets, not you or your body in general. And your thoughts don’t really attract your desires, your thoughts attract action. Action within you. Action that moves you in the direction of your dreams. Action that makes you pick up the phone and make that call that you’ve been putting off, or that gets you to gather the courage to speak up for yourself or to talk to that stranger that you’ve been attracted to, or to do all kinds of things that can only be accomplished by you taking action.
Action is what separates the beginners from the pros when it comes to successfully manifesting dreams and desires. Without action your desires will come slowly, if they come at all!
Okay, let’s get back to creating your day. You’ve used a positive affirmation before going to sleep and now it is morning. Take a moment before getting out of bed to mentally affirm your intentions for the day. Tell yourself that no matter what the day brings that you will have the resources that you need to meet the challenges that come up.
You should have a set of affirmations to repeat every morning to put yourself in the proper frame of mind to have a great day. Affirmations that include your major goals and desires. Write them down and READ them to yourself every morning. Make sure they are positive statements written in the present tense, in other words use, “I am...”, not “I will...” and be certain that they are powerful, bold statements that leave no room for uncertainty.
As you go through your morning routine look for ways that you can decrease the negativeness being thrown your way. Maybe you can put off watching the news or reading the paper until you have a handle on your day. Maybe you can get up a few minutes earlier so you’re not feeling as rushed in the morning. Maybe you can find a different route to work so that although it takes you ten minutes longer to get there you experience less traffic jams and congestion. Find those areas or your mornings that bring stress and discomfort to you and eliminate or change them.
By the same token you should look for ways to add joy and fun to your mornings. Listen to something inspirational or motivational as you are getting ready for your day, read a passage from your favorite inspirational book, spend a few moments thinking about the actions that you can take today to move you toward your dreams. Set the stage for your success today.
Instead of wolfing down the same old breakfast have something new, or better yet, take the time to prepare your favorite breakfast, the one you only make on Sundays. This is your time, make the most of it. Many people lose hours of their day because they look at that part of the day from when they get up until they start work as sort of ‘semi-work’ time. It’s ‘getting ready for work time’. Don’t fall for that! Unless they’re paying you for it, it is YOUR time. Use it to do something, anything that will bring you closer to your dreams. Take some action every morning, no matter how small. Maybe all you can do right now is read or research or learn about your dream. That’s fine too. Just do something.
How you start your day has a tremendous impact upon how you’re going to perceive your day as you go along, so give yourself the best edge you can. By working on one of your goals in the morning you are telling your SELF that your goals matter and are reinforcing their importance throughout the rest of the day.
The first secret to creating your day is getting off to a good start. Do whatever you can to improve your morning habits and routines. Make them as positive and as uplifting as you can and you’ll soon see a fantastic change in your outlook as you set out on each new day.
