Donna and I drove up to Boston yesterday to attend an Abraham workshop. It was great to see Esther and Jerry Hicks in person, and watch as Esther channeled the group of beings known as Abraham. The workshop was actually in Burlington, Massachusetts, at the Marriott Hotel, about a two hour car ride for us. It was a beautiful morning for a car ride too, warm, sunny, and with not much traffic at all.

For those of you not familiar with Esther Hicks and the teachings of Abraham I'll say this, you should be. Their teachings are the core of the law of attraction. If you are serious about using the law of attraction to improve your life you must include Abraham's materials in your reading or listening.

So who is Abraham? Abraham is a collection of inter-dimensional beings who Esther Hicks channels through her consciousness. They speak through her and have been doing so for quite some time. I won't give you their whole story here, if you're interested you can check them out at Abraham-Hicks.com. Esther and her husband Jerry have been teaching and conducting workshops for more than 20 years and have built up quite a following.

I know that many people are wary of channeled material and of channeling in general, but I would urge the skeptics among you to listen to the message anyway. Whether you believe that Esther is really channeling a consciousness from another dimension or not isn't relative to the truth of their teachings. Their teachings easily rest on their own merit, regardless of their source.

The workshop, which was sold out, filled one of the hotel's conference rooms. A staff member told Donna that there were 500 people there. We managed to get pretty good seats, although being kind of tall I don't usually have a hard time seeing, regardless of where I sit. Donna on the other hand...

Anyway, the mostly female audience filled the room with energy as we waited for things to start. Jerry opened up by introducing himself and Esther, and then proceeded to delight the audience with his friendliness and wit. After a short commercial break... Well, that's what it seemed like as Jerry ran through a bunch of their products that were available, after that he brought Esther up and we were off...

Esther came up to the podium and wasted no time getting into her 'trance state' and allowing Abraham to come through. 'Abraham' spoke briefly about a couple different aspects of the law of attraction and then the workshop portion of the day began. During the rest of the day audience members with questions were picked by Abraham to sit in the 'hot seat' and have their question(s) answered. The 'hot seat' is a chair placed directly in front of the podium. After being seated and having a large boom microphone placed in front of their face most of the questioners began a squirming process. I say squirming, because most times they really did squirm as Abraham zeroed in on their issues, and then with clarity and profoundness seemed to offer resolution to most of those issues.

I was amazed both by the quickness and depth of Abraham's answers. (I'm not sure whether to refer to Esther/Abraham as he, she, it, or they..., but I'm leaning towards 'they'.) Their ability to focus in on a person's real question, which is often the one beneath the one they asked out loud, is uncanny.

The law of attraction as explained by Abraham is one of the most coherent and conclusive bodies of thought I've yet encountered on the subject, and I've encountered more than a few! Their workshops are very regimented as far as time goes. Esther/Abraham only work for approximately one hour at a time, then they break to give Esther a rest before beginning again. So every hour or so we had a short break. Coincidentally, this schedule provides them with one CDs worth of material at a time, giving them an easy editing job, as no single questioner is carried over to the next segment of the workshop. Pretty neat!

I'd like to make a couple of points about Esther/Abraham's material. First, it doesn't matter to me if you believe that the information is channeled or not. As I said in the beginning of this post though, if you are serious about learning and using the law of attraction then you have to investigate their teachings for yourself. It is unique in its comprehensiveness. I think you'll like it.

Second, I know that many of you are wondering whether or not I personally believe that Esther is channeling... and the answer is... I do. Most of the time. I have doubts occasionally, but then, I have doubts about most of the rest of our reality too. I've seen and experienced too many 'extra' ordinary things to deny the possibility of channeling. But again, don't let my belief or non-belief influence you. Read and listen for yourself. Regardless of what you decide you'll find that their teachings will be immensely helpful on your journey towards a better life.

So let's see, it was a beautiful, warm, sunny day; I had the day off from work - a paid day off, thank you very much; and I got to spend that beautiful day with my best friend, learning about the law of attraction and being inspired to continue to create the life that we desire for ourselves.
